Caligari
Community Guidelines
What are the
posting guidelines for the TSML and Forums?
1. Please stay on topic.
The list and forums are intended for trueSpace
users. If it's not related to trueSpace or 3D, it's
off topic.
2. Please refrain from
promotion of competitive products. Posts
regarding complementary products are acceptable.
3. Be courteous to
other list or forum members; feel free to disagree
but refrain from personal insults. Respect other
people’s opinions and disagree politely.
4. If you have questions or
concerns about other issues related to Caligari,
please email custsrv@caligari.com. The list and
forums are not an appropriate place for these
discussions. Abuse of our software, list members,
or Caligari will not be tolerated. Constructive,
respectful criticism regarding trueSpace is allowed.
What happens
if someone violates the rules?
5. Authors whose comments are
deemed inappropriate will be placed on a review list
for 30 business days. Authors placed on review will
be notified privately and are welcome to appeal the
decision in private. The list and forums are not
appropriate places for these communications. If,
after 30 days, the author has demonstrated good
intentions, the review is lifted. If, during the 30
days the author continues to make inappropriate
comments, the review may result in a ban from the
list and/or forums.
6. Attempts to circumvent the
rules or the review process may result in a ban.
What
is the TSML?
The trueSpace mailing
list (TSML) is an email-based discussion group about
Caligari's trueSpace 3D graphics and animation
software. Caligari also maintains a Web
archive of postings to the TSML. This archive is
broken down into monthly sections, and is fully
sortable and searchable.
Subscribing
to the TSML
If you would like to
subscribe to the TSML, send an email to listserv@caligari.com.
The body of your email should simply state "SUB
truespace" (without the quotes). No subject is
needed. Note that you will get a message requesting
confirmation. Simply reply 'OK' to this message.
(This confirmation prevents others from maliciously
subscribing random people to our list.)
Help
with the TSML
If you need help with
the TSML, you can send the command HELP in the body
of an email message to listserv@caligari.com.
Some of the basic commands are summarized here.
If you are still having problems after reading that
information, you can send email to postmaster@caligari.com.
Posting
to the TSML
If you send a message
to truespace@caligari.com, everyone who is
subscribed to the list will get a copy of your
message. Naturally, any commands (such as SUBSCRIBE
and SET) that you email to 'truespace' will be sent
to all the subscribers as well. So, you must
remember to send all commands to listserv@caligari.com.
The
TSML digest version
The TSML can generate
a large number of emails in a single day. If you
would prefer to receive a couple of larger emails,
each containing individual posts, you can simply set
your 'mode' to digest. There is no longer any need
to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the digest
version.
You can receive the digest by sending an email to listserv@caligari.com.
The body of your email should simply state "SET
truespace DIGEST" (without the quotes). No
subject is needed. You can also "SET truespace
NODIGEST" if you change your mind later.
The
TSML Web archives
The TSML Web archive
can be found here.
This archive will contain all of the posts made to
the TSML, broken down by month. In addition, the
archive can be sorted by date, author, and subject.
It also has a powerful search engine, allowing you
to filter posts or find things such as "ray
tracing" or "human models".
General Netiquette guidelines can be found here.
Tips
on asking good technical questions can be found here.
