Bones Tutorial      by Brett Fattori
Part I   Creating the Skeleton

Build Skeleton tool
Using the Build Skeleton tool, we're going to build the skeletal structure inside of the mesh. trueSpace is very well adapted to guessing where you want to put the bones into an object. As you click to add bones here and there, most times you'll be amazed at how well trueSpace figured out where you actually wanted it to go.

You'll see the panel in figure 2 appear. Make sure that the icon being pointed to (Build Skeleton in Object) is pressed, this lets trueSpace know that you want it to guess where to place the bones. If you don't want this feature turned on, then un-press this button. Next, right click on the Build Skeleton tool to get the panel in figure 3 to show up.

Fig.3
In the panel in figure 3, you want to make sure that you check the two boxes shown. Checking the Build Vertically box allows you to build vertically up and down from the ground plane (important for objects like this one that stand up). Also, make sure that the Hide Leaf Bones is checked. You'll find that this mode is a little easier to use, as I call it "positioning joints" as opposed to "positioning bones".
