Bones Tutorial      by Brett Fattori
Part I   Creating the Skeleton

Fig.11

We should now be at the point depicted in figure 11. Our skeleton should be almost totally complete, except for maybe some adjusting of the joints here and there. Make sure that the joints that you've set are aligned where the joints are in an actual human, this way manipulation will be easier when animating. I can see your question bubbling up now... "Where are the bones for the hands, head, and feet?" Well, they are there.
Build Skeleton tool Remember way back on the first page when we were configuring the parameters before creating the skeleton? One of the parameters was Hide Leaf Bones and I said it would be easier to work with because you place joints instead of bones? Well, right-click on the Build Skeleton tool and uncheck the Hide Leaf Bones option.
Fig.12

Now you see, as in figure 12, where those extra bones are. They are there, just that we hide them so as not to confuse you. If you went ahead of this tutorial and added your own bones for the hands, head, and feet then you'll most likely have tiny little bones out at the tips of those bones in the hands and feet. You'll need to remove those bones so that you have the skeleton in figure 12.
