Sunset
By Joe Brewer
First, create a cube . Next resize the cube,
(I used SIZE= X=30 Y=25 Z=2) with the object scale tool . By clicking on the
"Paint Face Tool" you can create ripples. Under
"shader/maps" right click on the "Bump Map" button;
it will bring up a window that looks like this . Paint the top of
the cube. Once you have done this you may render it so you can see what it looks like (it
should look bumpy). Next, make the bumps SUPER shiny. You can do this by going to shader
attributes and shifting the shininess and roughness UP. Now you just need a neat
background.
Create another cube - the sizes I used are (SIZE= X=30 Y=2 Z=25) then paint the face
of the cube. If you have Windows95 you can get a cool cloud background by painting the
surface. Right click on texture map (instead of bump map as shown above) then click
on that empty rectangle, go to the windows directory, and click on clouds.bmp-- The
overall scene should
look something like this and rendered
like this .
Now all you need to do is find the right perspective. The key to the whole sunset is where
you place a BRIGHT light. Put it in the corner where your two cubes meet. Now render it,
and you're done.
P.S. The key to rendering is "Anti-Alias" when you right click on the render
button it will bring up a window with the words anti-alias YOU WANT TO CHECK THIS! You can
even change the quality from 2X (times) to 3X or even 4X. |
