trueSpace3 HE and Hercules Dynamite 3D/GL based on 3Dlabs' PERMEDIA 2 Graphics Processor offer great hardware/software solution |
Comdex, Las Vegas, CA, -- November 17, 1997 -- Caligari Corporation, creators of the award-winning trueSpace3, and Hercules Computer Technology, Inc., today announced a bundling agreement that offers a high-performance combination of hardware design and born-to-be-accelerated 3D software for both the professional and consumer markets. Caligari's trueSpace3 HE will be bundled with the Hercules Dynamite 3D/GL accelerator for an estimated retail price of $199.00 for the PCI model, and $199.00 for the AGP version. trueSpace's uniquely immersive interface is perfectly designed to take advantage of hardware acceleration. Because artists can directly manipulate fully rendered objects in a fully rendered 3D perspective space, the design process is greatly enhanced when used with boards, such as the Hercules Dynamite 3D/GL.
"The significant progress in hardware acceleration is creating great momentum in the 3D market," said Roman Ormandy, CEO and president of Caligari Corporation. "Caligari is uniquely poised to take advantage of such hardware innovation. The combination of our software talents with that of the Hercules hardware is an excellent proof of concept of why accelerated 3D is so satisfying."
"We view the relationship with Caligari as a direct realization of our commitment to bring the best solutions to our customers," said Peggy Fong, Co-President at Hercules. "The design of trueSpace's modeless interface really shows off what high performance acceleration can do for the 3D experience."
Pricing and Availability
trueSpace3 HE will be available with the Hercules Dynamite 3D/GL for an estimated retail price of $199.00 for the PCI model, and $199.00 for the AGP version and will begin shipping November 1, 1997.

Mountain View, CA, -- April 28, 1997 --And adds to the excellence with the announcement of an Improved Key Frame Editor Mountain View, CA April 28, 1997 Caligari Corporation announced today that trueSpace3 for Windows will ship in early May. trueSpace3 introduces features not available in any other mid-range 3D package nor found in many high-end workstations. The award winning program is designed to produce 3D models, photo-realistic images and animations for graphics artists, designers, technical illustrators, game designers, multimedia and Web producers.
Caligari is also excited to announce that a free Improved Key Frame Editor patch will be available 60 days after shipment, to registered trueSpace3 users seeking more precise animation control.
Response from Caligari's loyal user base to the announced new features such as real-time metaballs called "Live Skin" by Caligari, 3D paint, inverse kinematics, forward dynamics, PlastiForm surface engraving, 3D plug-ins, accurate collision detection, an integrated VRML browser, VRML 2.0 support, Direct 3D support and more, has been phenomenal.
"I have access to very high-end programs but trueSpace3 is the fastest and best modeler you can buy," said Frank Rivera, a trueSpace3 beta tester from LogicBit, a 3D training firm in New Jersey. "It's more user friendly and appears to be designed with the artist in mind. trueSpace modeling was exceptional in trueSpace2 and in trueSpace3 it's over the top." Caligari has built upon its ease-of-use legacy by designing workstation power into the only 3D product that integrates all its tools into one real-time, modeless environment in which objects are manipulated and edited in full 3D perspective.
"We are very proud of the unprecedented features we have included in trueSpace3, but we are even more proud of how these features have been integrated together seamlessly. trueSpace3's power makes it increasingly difficult for high-end 3D packages to justify their price points," said Roman Ormandy, CEO and president of Caligari Corporation. "This product is inspired both by a respect for the nature of human creativity and by our dedication to make professional-level 3D tools available to everyone."

Mountain View, CA, -- April 28, 1997 -- Computer Game Developer Conference, Santa Clara, April 28, 1997 Caligari Corporation announced today that four third parties have kicked off Caligari's Third Party Developer Program by creating six new dynamic 3D plug-ins for Caligari trueSpace3.
The first four developers initiated into Caligari's Developer Program are: Vision3, Inc.; Windmill Fraser Multimedia, Inc.; Sunfish Studio; and independent developer, Tom Schlosser. The plug-ins created by these four entities build upon the innovative and open architecture of trueSpace3. The extensions are easy-to-use and integrate seamlessly into trueSpace3's unique interface, providing users with added functionality and creative power.
"We're excited to see talented developers join with Caligari to add more functionality to trueSpace3 and provide others with an even broader palette of tools," said Roman
Ormandy, president and CEO of Caligari Corporation. "We're happy to help promote these companies and distribute their software to our loyal users who are eager to take advantage of their innovations."
The following third party plug-ins will ship free on the trueClips CD included with the purchase of trueSpace3:
Windmill Fraser Multimedia, Inc. developed three exciting environmental and modeling plug-ins:
1) Landmass, a fractal landscape generator that can create instant mountainous terrain, complete with rippling water effects and built-in textures;
2) Multiplex, an object replication and animation tool that lets users create fantastic ships that "grow" over time, or animate through a mathematically-calculated path, and
3) Wiggedly, a vertex randomizer used for making surface effects like rocks, wads of paper, fabric, rough waters and hair.
Sunfish Studio adds to trueSpace3's animation capabilities with an innovative plug-in called
TrueView. TrueView is a hierarchy editor with drag and drop functionality that makes it very quick and easy to select any object in the trueSpace scene, manipulate it, or set up hierarchy levels.
Independent developer, Tom Schlosser, designed Particle System Foundation, which creates appealing animation "foundation"-type particle systems for special effects. This allows users to easily create animations of flowing water fountains, volcanoes and more. Animations can be produced using a variety of particle types, flow rates, spray angles and gravity.
Vision3, Inc. has created PrimitivesPlus, an object creation tool for generating rocks and organic landscapes. Also included are a set of professional, high quality environment maps for trueSpace.
Caligari Corporation's Third Party Developer Program includes the trueSpace API and development support, as well as public relations, marketing efforts and promotional activities on a special third party developer section of the Caligari web site.
Pricing and Availability
All six new 3D plug-ins will be included on the trueClips CD that is shipped with trueSpace3. trueSpace3 for Windows will be available for a suggested retail price of $795 at the end of April 1997. The upgrade price for trueSpace2 users is $299. trueSpace3 will be available from Caligari authorized resellers and direct from Caligari. The Improved Key Frame Editor patch will be available to registered trueSpace3 users 60 days after the shipment of trueSpace3. To obtain the Improved Key Frame Editor, contact Caligari by telephone at 415/390-9600 or by visiting Caligari's web site. |
