One
of the most visually driven applications in history
Abandoning
the idea that an interface must be dull or just boring,
Caligari Corporation has created one of the most visually
driven applications in history. Plus, it is extremely fast
when compared to so many others on the market. trueSpace
is surprisingly potent, the feature set and power are anything
but low end. Affordable, powerfull way to enter 3D. Caligari
looks ready to take on any comers.

Truly
a great space to work
A rich
environment not only for tuning 3D geometry, but for setting
it in motion. trueSpace, always a well-respected object
and character rendering program, is growing into a robust
animation studio. Using clips of motion sequences in the
clip view editor, animators can edit, blend and play like
never before. |

Caligari
Marches On
When
it comes to inspired innovation and dogged perseverance,
it's difficult to find too many companies like Caligari.
trueParticles is a great new feature in trueSpace 6.6. |

You
will be amazed at how quickly you can develop a finished
product
Version
6.6 gives you tremendous flexibility in developing both
static and motion-based 3-D objects. [UI] is like nothing
else you have encountered in the Windows environment. But
once you get use to it, designing becomes an intuitive process.
The product is finding its way into corporate demo production
as well as into the gaming arena because of its strengths
and flexibility. At $595, trueSpace isn't cheap at least
until you price some other high-end packages that make you
realize Caligari's price is impressive. |

Wicked
Cool!
Is the
combination of trueSpace and Viewpoint the Holy Grail of
Internet based communications technology? All I can say
is that it is the closest thing I have seen so far. |

More
features than may be expected
The
NLA (non-linear) editor with it's clips is a huge step forward
in trueSpaces animation abilities. The particle system is
fantastic, and with a little time and effort, some awesome
effects will be achievable. All in all, there's alot here
that justifies the upgrade.

Great
improvements to the modeling and animation tools
[TS6.5]
animation tools have been completely overhauled, the inverse
kinematics are improved, and the new non-linear animations
using a series of clips...can now be created quickly. [Physics]
goes much further with local physical environments, more
accurate colision detection and, for the first time 'breakable"
objects. |

More
than a midrange product
For
many users new to 3D, this is the right application. While
it may be a little more expensive than Carrara, there is
much to recommend the program..... The program is stable,
works very well with Windows XP and is actually enjoyable
to use once you become comfortable with it's unique interface...
For visually oriented persons, the advantages [of direct
manipulation] are obvious. |

Latest
innovations
...The
sixth generation of Caligari's trueSpace software offers
some of the latest innovations a 3D package can offer, although
it still has the same look of the product's earlier versions.
TS6 offers a lot for its price tag.... If you want to choose
an affordable 3D modeling and animation tools, TS6 could
be the right choice since it has proved to be a real survivor. |

A
Winning Combination
.. very
capable rendering and visualization tools, animation capabilities,
and a product that is highly extensible-making it possible
to adapt it easily to your design needs. This extensibility
has produced a wealth of add-on products...as well as a
vocal, supportive, and established user community. This
makes for a winning combination and trueSpace is finding
its way into some surprising and elaborate design projects. |

More
Bang For Your Buck
By far
the most intuitive interface I've seen. ...after a short
time I became very comfortable with the icons and rather
enjoyed the fact that every tool I needed was right there
at my disposal, and didn't have to weed through endless
menus or roll out dialogs. ....Radiosity is something you
might only expect to find in very expensive applications
costing thousands of dollars. trueSpace uses radiosity and
IBL (image based lighting) lights.

Fine
MCAD companion program
(Comparative review of trueSpace6, Rhino, FormZ, Argon,
VectorWorks)
Of this quintet of applications,
trueSpace presents the user interface that may well have
the most appeal to the designer. This type [Magic Ring]
of intuitive manipulation is not found in any of the other
products reviewed here. trueSpace's visualization tools
are excellent. As far as pure shape modeling, trueSpace
may very well be the best in this group.

Mighty,
friendly trueSpace6
Plenty of new features and functions make this version a
worthwhile upgrade.Shelling and Mirrored Modeling functions
are exciting new additions. Working with complex models
is easier, rendering engine works like magic. Best of all
is the animation of heads. The program is not only powerful
enough for game design, but also affordable.

Not
just a cosmetic improvement
trueSpace6
proves again that Caligari's performance is getting closer
to professional 3D tools while maintain very affordable
price. Moreover user interface is very easy and does not
require many hours of manual reading so it is accessible
not only to professionals but also to beginning illustrators,
architects etc. |

Caligari
ups the ante once again
Some of the most exciting new features in version 6 have to
do with animation. The new Scene Editor with audio tracks
and layer paint functionality makes dealing with animation
much more enjoyable and efficient... trueSpace’s modeling
aspects have gained some significant improvements...Of course,
as per the usual, trueSpace produces wonderfully rendered
scenes...all of the other new additions to the program are
quite wonderful and bring the level of trueSpace’s functionality
that much closer to high-end. With the release of version
6, trueSpace is still the best 3D graphics, animation, and
rendering package for the price.

Visionary
3D Design Tool
[TS6] offers wide variety of polygon and NURBS modeling options,
animation, and a decent renderer, all for a sharp price. Context
sensitive toolbars are key factor in trueSpace's fast modeling
abilities. Vastly improved accuracy of collision and global
and individual pysical attributes. [New] Scene editor offers
a lot more general control than the old Key frame Editor ever
did. ...Excellent solution at a fair price.

Really
cool 3D modeling application
I found trueSpace6 to be a great application that is stable,
and after the initial learning curve for the interface, very
easy to use. Once I got started with trueSpace6 and began
to understand how things worked, I begin to like even more
the visual nature of the interface. Icon Finder ... is one
of the coolest tools I've seen in an application.

truelyAmazing!
TS6 is one of the most amazing modelers. I would recommend
trueSpace to any developer who wants quality 3D graphics at
an attainable price. TS6 is one of the most fully featured
mid-range 3D graphics packages available... has features that
you would normally find only in the more expensive applications.
If you are not a TS6 user already, try it. You won't regret
it! If you're an old hat at TS, then upgrade and inherit a
ton of new and improved features.

A
program you can grow with all the way
I choose to do the first tutorial, "Creating a Ship using
the Polygon Sweep Tools". For someone who doesn't model, I
was pretty impressed with myself after creating my ship. trueSpace6
seems to have it all in their program. Given some of the results
that are possible it is very clear that this is a program
you can grow with all the way. The features are comparable
to programs costing much more money.. so go ahead and jump
in! Remember as well to take advantage of the thriving community
of users that are happy to help you. |

One
of the Best Packages for Doing 3D Graphics Work
trueSpace6 ... is an extremely powerful 3D graphics program....Animation
in trueSpace can be as simple as setting a path for the camera
to follow....One of my favorite new features is the Facial
Animator....The expressions are actually animated, making
the new heads look eerily lifelike....Caligari even offers
packaged collections of third-party plug-ins, offering significant
capabilities to trueSpace. |

Great New Modeling Tools
For a mid-range 3D suite, trueSpace6 offers quite a
large amount of functionality. In fact, trueSpace6 contains
many features typically found in high end programs only...trueSpace6
is designed for artists, not engineers. Enhancements
have been made on nearly every major front...trueSpace6
gives much more power to the polygon end of things….The
new array tools are equally formidable....With all of
these great new features, now is the time to upgrade. |

Beta Review by Mark Parmenter of White River Foundry
The new feature descriptions
in no way do the power of the features
justice. The array, fillet and
taper, skew and bend tools are worth the upgrade price
and then some: all real-time feed back,
all very intuitive. Cool new NURBs primitives
and new view tools. I love the object views.
This
is by far the best edition yet. |
