With the
gameSpace Level Exporter from Greenbriar Studio, you can
literally open up whole new worlds! Create the landscapes,
buildings or other environments that your game players will
explore and inhabit. Below is a quick summary of what the Level
Exporter offers - click each point for more details.
|
|
gameSpace is the
only dedicated 3D content creation solution designed for the
indie game developer and game mod enthusiast.
Now you can
direct the power of gameSpace into level creation. Construct
floors, walls, ceilings and more, using every feature in
gameSpace to make it easier and faster to build your level than
it is in other level editors. You will still need to keep in
mind the restrictions of your destination format, and then the
Level Exporter can then split your level into game-compatible
blocks. No other level or map creation utility is this flexible!

Creating Your Level
The beauty of the Level Exporter is that you can use the
flexible gameSpace modeling tools to create the geometry
of your level, for instance you can use arrays to speed the
positioning of pillars in a room.
Most game editors
require you to make everything out of lots of simple blocks,
which leaves you battling the production process rather than
focusing on bringing your design to life in the game world. With
the tools in gameSpace, and the Level Exporter helping convert
your geometry into bsp-valid pieces, this frees you to think of
more of layout and design. |
You are also not limited to small levels!
The Level Exporter will split up the level you create into
smaller pieces automatically, so you can create a level as big
or as small as your ideas call for!

Exporting
The gameSpace Level Exporter is designed to export to many
game engines and game development packages. However, not all
packages support the same options for MAP and WAD files, so for
maximum compatibility, the Level Exporter gives you access to a
full range of options for the specific features of MAP and WAD
that will be used, accessed through easy intuitive menu options.
The Level Exporter
has specific support for 3D Game Studio, Blitz Basic, Torque and
Dark BASIC, and having access to these output options ensures
wider compatibility with other packages that use MAP and WAD
files. |

Note that game 'entities' such as switches, paths
for enemy AI to follow, pressure points, teleport points,
triggers, and so forth, still need to be set up in your game
editor or game development tool. However, the tedious step of
constructing the level geometry will already have been made
simpler thanks to gameSpace!
Importing
You can also import WAD files made in any app that supports the
WAD2 or WAD3 format, giving you access to lots of pre-made
textures designed and prepared specifically for games, ideal
whether you want to create new levels or integrate them with
existing levels in a particular game.

Mipmapping
WAD files can have mipmapped textures. These are a set of three
extra textures at 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 the size of the base
texture, and are used in game engines for displaying objects at
a distance. This could take a lot of time and effort to set up
for your level - but the Level Exporter does all the hard work
for you!
When you export to
WAD format, all the textures automatically have this 4 texture
set created.

*1 Game
engines all vary in their geometry requirements. gameSpace Level
Exporter by Greenbriar Studio is designed to make the creation
of levels easier and more efficient for various game engines.
The user still must make sure that the levels created in
gameSpace and exported with the Level Exporter meet the geometry
requirements of the game engine. GameSpace can create geometry
that is too advanced for some game engines.

Converting from MAP to final level may require compilation in
tools such as WED, Hammer, etc, which either accompany the game
or game engine software, or which are available freely. |
