On some pages on the gameSpace website you will find the
'gameSpace Third Party Product!' stamp. Caligari firmly
believes in supporting and promoting not only our own
products, but also those made by third-party developers who
write plug-ins for our software. |
Rather than leave the developers to advertise by themselves, and
leave our users searching far and wide all over the web for
plug-ins for gameSpace, we include details of plug-ins right
here, alongside our own list of products!
We
use the 'gameSpace Third Party Product!' stamp to tell you when
it is a product created outside of Caligari. The stamp is to let
users know that the particular product is developed, tested and
supported by a third-party developer, rather than by Caligari.
Below you will find some answers to the questions you may have!
1. Does Caligari control the content and functionality of the
plug-ins?
Not directly, no. We talk with developers and pass on the
feedback we get from our users, and often put developers in
touch with our users directly either through our forums or
through our beta group, and we can also recommend or suggest
possible content, but we do not directly control what goes in
and what gets left out of a third-party plug-in.
2. Is Caligari responsible for testing the plug-ins?
No. Testing remains the responsibility of the third-party
developer. Extra testing is sometimes done by the Caligari beta
team for gameSpace, with reports of any problems being sent to
the third-party developer, who then decides what action or fix
(if any) will be done.
3. Is there a test or quality check before a plug-in gets the
stamp?
No. Caligari promotes the developer, as we believe in giving
them coverage to maximize their return on their hard work.
However, ensuring the product meets quality standards remains
the responsibility of the third-party developer. The standards
they use is also the choice of the developer. The 'gameSpace
Third Party Product!' is not intended as a seal of quality or
stamp of approval.
4. Does Caligari support the plug-ins and software?
No. Caligari is not responsible for technical support for
third-party developments. We would certainly try to answer
questions you may have about installation or use where possible,
on the forums for example, but we would not have the inside
technical information to answer all questions, and we would not
have access to the code to make bug fixes and updates. We also
may not be able to give a high priority to responding to emails
relating to the plug-ins.
For
those reasons, it is best to contact the third-party developer
directly when in need of technical support. The level of
technical support provided is determined solely by the
third-party developer.
5. Will Caligari inform me when new versions are released?
No. The third-party developer would be responsible for letting
all users of the plug-in know about new releases, but where
possible we will work closely with the developers and email our
users directly from Caligari, as well as making information
available on the web pages and forums!
6. Who creates the web pages, Caligari or the third-party
developer?
Caligari assembles the final web pages based on information and
content provided by the third-party developer. What is provided
by the developer can vary from plain text and accompanying
graphics, right through to a fully laid out page. Once the page
is complete, the third-party developer is always asked to review
it for their approval, and for technical accuracy in describing
the features and abilities of their plug-in.
7. Does Caligari
make money on the sale of the plug-ins?
The exact terms of the arrangement will vary from plug-in to
plug-in, and developer to developer, with the terms being
decided between the third-party developer and Caligari. Like any
contracted agreement, this information is confidential!
