Caligari Eye, December 2004

Happy New Year to our trueSpace family!

2004 marked the tenth anniversary of trueSpace. When we released trueSpace in 1994 it was the first integrated modeling, animation, and rendering system for the Windows platform - and it was the first to feature an immersive, direct-manipulation interface. In the ten years since then, trueSpace has matured to become a full-featured tool capable of producing amazing results in the hands of our many talented artist customers.

This past year we continued our long-standing focus on content, adding new video courses to our training line-up, with several being worked on and released at the time of going to press with this newsletter. We also released iPak, bringing multi-pass rendering and a host of new artistic capabilities to our customers, and updated gameSpace to version 1.6.

Overshadowing all that, though, is our work on the next generation of trueSpace. The first public preview of what is to come took place at our trueTown user event in New York on December 10th, and the initial reactions were positive, with much excitement from those who attended. You can read about the event in this special issue of the newsletter and, rest assured, you will also hear a lot more as time goes on!

I am extremely pleased with where we have been and am incredibly excited about where we are going; I hope that you will all join us as we take this next step into the future of 3D content authoring. We truly owe our success to you, our trueSpace family, and I want to sincerely thank you all on behalf of Team Caligari!

We wish you the best in the year to come!

Roman Ormandy,
President
