Future of Collaboration

trueSpace7.5 is the only 3D authoring tool capable of real time collaboration in a shared space1. This makes it ideal for rich online community meetings, learning, collaborative design and upcoming 3D social networks.

trueSpace users would participate in weekly informal meetings to meet friends from around the world, collaborate with them and learn. The snapshot below was taken towards the end of one such meeting, some 3 and half hours after the official start.

This meeting had started with a real-time 15 minute speed modeling duel between two volunteers. In this case the goal was to create a computer mouse. Here you can see the end results, one contestant's model in the red circle, and the other in the blue circle.

Then Mark O’Dwyer showed his interactive black kiosk demonstrating prerecorded but interactive audio (shown in the center). Finally, Augusto Michelis showed his latest work, a robot he had modeled, with emphasis on non-real time V-Ray rendering

trueSpace7.5's powerful node editor and script editor allow for easy creation of interactive behaviors without any programming. In the image below on the left, Mathew Collins is conducting a script seminar using an improvised 3D "PowerPoint-style" display. On the right, Augusto Michelis is demonstrating SDS modeling in the workspace by creating a cobra model.

Renderosity is a popular, thriving online community of graphic artists with 500,000 registered members.

In May 2007, Renderosity and Caligari staged an event in truePlace, a 3D gallery opening showcasing the work of 2006 Vendor of the Year, Aery Soul.

Aery Soul artists Shanim and Siliphiel were able to present their art in a contemporary, well lit, “aery” environment, and visitors had an opportunity to approach the artists and ask them questions. They said it was a lot of fun!

In the near future online participants, represented as realistic avatars, will meet inside photorealistic 3D spaces to work, learn and play together, without the hassle of building brick and mortar buildings, without the cost and pollution from burning gas in their cars and planes, without the time wasted traveling to those buildings, and without the risks of travel accidents or terrorism.
